The posting
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Micron’s Research and Development organization develops next-generation memory solutions and supports the transfer of new products into manufacturing. The Yield Analysis team partners across R&D and manufacturing to identify device, process, design, and test issues that affect yield and product performance.
As a Yield Analysis Engineer, you will characterize electrical, parametric, and fabrication data to identify intrinsic and extrinsic device issues affecting yield. You will apply semiconductor device physics, statistical analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to improve end-of-line performance prediction, accelerate issue resolution, and support the transfer of new products from R&D into manufacturing.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Analyze end-of-line test, parametric, and fabrication data to identify design, process, test, and device issues affecting yield.
- Develop yield-analysis tools and implement machine-learning techniques, bringing to bear artificial intelligence to improve analysis efficiency, accuracy, and end-of-line device-performance prediction.
- Investigate interactions between process modules and equipment to identify failure mechanisms and relevant process issues.
- Use inline data to drive process improvements and provide feedback on design and process issues that limit device functionality.
- Standardize analysis methods and procedures to support consistent, comparable, and repeatable yield-improvement processes.
- Lead or participate in multi-functional teams dedicated to solving complex yield issues and driving resolution.
- Prepare and present reports detailing the analysis and results of process experiments.
- Support the transfer of new products from R&D sites to manufacturing sites.
Successful candidates for this position will have:
- A bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is required, together with a minimum of five years of pertinent industry experience in the semiconductor sector. Alternatively, a master’s degree or equivalent experience, or a PhD or equivalent experience in engineering or a related semiconductor area is acceptable.
- Demonstrated understanding of semiconductor processing, CMOS operation, and memory-cell operation.
- Demonstrated ability to extract, statistically analyze, interpret, and report electrical, parametric, fabrication, or yield data.
- Programming experience with one or more of the following: JavaScript, Python, R, or SQL.
- Demonstrated written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex analysis in a concise and actionable manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience applying semiconductor device-physics knowledge to yield analysis, device characterization, or failure-mechanism investigation.
- Experience developing yield-analysis tools or applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve analysis efficiency, accuracy, or device-performance prediction.
- Experience supporting continuous-improvement processes, including improving measurement accuracy or end-of-line yield predictions.
- Experience leading technical discussions or coordinating teams spanning multiple functions across R&D and manufacturing.
