Accessibility

The people this site is for often read it on a phone, late, in a hurry. It has to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or reduced motion.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page, and we test new page templates against it before they ship.

What we have built in

  • Semantic HTML: one main landmark, one first-level heading per page, real tables with captions and header cells, real lists, real buttons and links.
  • Keyboard access to everything, a visible focus ring on every interactive element, and a skip link to the main content as the first item in tab order.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 on every text color we use, and no information carried by color alone.
  • Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on phones, and no content that only works with a hover.
  • Text that reflows at 400 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling of the page; wide tables scroll inside their own container.
  • Respect for the reduced-motion preference, and no animation that loops or plays on scroll.
  • Expanding sections built on the native details element so they work with every assistive technology.

Known limitations

  • On narrow screens some table columns are hidden to keep the table readable; the full set is available at tablet width and up.
  • Employers’ own apply pages, which listings link to, are outside our control and vary widely.

Tell us about a barrier
