You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date. The Learning & Leadership Development Director leads leadership development for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and directs the department's Learning & Leadership Development function.
The position owns the NCDOT Pathways Leadership Development Program across five leadership levels — program strategy, curriculum currency, facilitation, the recurring cohort cycle, and leadership assessment including the Assessment Center — and ensures that leaders across the department are developed against the seven NCDOT leadership competencies. The Director facilitates Pathways sessions, including senior-leader forums, and serves as the department's senior advisor on leadership development, partnering with executive and division leadership to embed Pathways department-wide.

Through subordinate supervision, the position provides leadership for a function of approximately nine employees.
The position directs Learning Operations — the learning management system, the enterprise training calendar, compliance and technical training coordination, reporting and vendor administration — and is responsible for establishing service and utilization standards, rationalizing the enterprise learning catalog against the Pathways curriculum and statewide offerings from the Office of State Human Resources, and establishing the measures by which the function's reach, quality and impact are judged.
The following experience is helpful but not required: public-sector or state-government supervisory experience; experience with leadership assessment (assessment center, 360°) and development planning.
This is a supervisory, primarily on-site position based in Wake County, with statewide travel for session delivery. Telework of one day per week is available after the first three months of employment. Teleworking privilege is subject to change based on management discretion.
